"There is no meaning in strength only used to hurt others."
Name: Firion
Nicknames: N/A
Age: Eighteen
Gender: Male
Game: Final Fantasy II
Member Group: Hero
Personality: Firion is a simple, down-to-earth young man. His speech is humble and mild-mannered, but hardly carefree. He is in fact fairly focused and disciplined in action, and at times it can lend a small air of dignity to what would otherwise be an ordinary country boy. This can sometimes make him "the serious one" in a group, but he isn't such a stick in the mud that he would curb others' fun either. Provided it doesn't get too out of hand, anyway.
When it comes to outside matters, he is a confident and methodical speaker. The subject of himself, however, is where Firion often falters. There's no particular reason. He just has a hard time speaking from the heart on personal matters, and trying to do so can leave him struggling to find words. Speaking with women can also be hard for him. This is subtle and fades with familiarity. Being flirted with, on the other hand, is liable to render him a flustered mess.
But for all of his humbleness, this is a boy who warred an empire. His humbleness and simplicity belies a hot passion that surges forth when the moment is right. Firions actions are rarely motivated by anything complex. In his mind, one need only protect people because people need protecting; all other reasons are ancillary. He has seen firsthand the horrors that come with conquest and imperialism. Tyrants who seek dominion will find a dogged enemy in him.
History: Born in Salamand but raised in Fynn, Firion lived an exceedingly normal life with his friends and foster family. When Palamecia's ambition reached the kingdoms doorstep, and its soldiers and demons in tow, he did not escape unscathed. His life was saved by Fynn's resistance, and he next awoke in their hidden headquarters, his terrible wounds healed. His friends were similarly spared, sans one; Leon was nowhere to be seen.
Driven by the loss of his family and pain he suffered, Firion sought to aid the Wild Rose Rebellion in its efforts against the Palamecian Empire. Its leader, the princess Hilda, initially turned him away. The youths standing before her were just that, and she could not in good conscious pull kids into her war. But they proved themselves, and became unlikely but effective instruments of the rebellion, even saving Hilda's life.
But the fighting was tough. Every time a blow was struck against the Empire, its sorcerous emperor seemed to have another scheme already in motion. Stalwart allies would stand up beside them, only to die. Every battle held more than personal stakes; entire cities were storched to the earth over the course of the conflict. It frustrated Firion. They gave it their all, and the costs were always grand, but they never seemed to make headway. And all the while they found opposition in a mysterious dark knight...
But they are not without their own miracles. They unseal the forbidden magic Ultima and resurrect the dying wyverns, and with both in hand assault the emperor at the heart of the chaotic Cyclone and end his life. Even the reveal that the dark knight is a brainwashed Leon, and that he has crowned himself the new emperor, is not enough to halt their momentum. Things take a turn when the previous emperor appears before them once more, having conquered hell upon his demise.
And so Firion's final trial was not one of freedom and conquest, or man and demon, but the hope he cultivated versus the darkness Palamecia's emperor would bring to snuff it out. And amid the crystalline halls of Pandaemonium, the very palace of hell itself, it was that hope which triumphed.
